We streamlined online OER curriculum access for teachers
Audience: K-12 Teachers and district influencers
About: The Hewlett Foundation, in partnership with the Silicon Valley Education Foundation, needed an innovative approach to supporting teachers’ needs. Reducing the barriers to online use of Open Education Resources (OER) required research into the behavior and practices of over 300 K-12 teachers in Silicon Valley public schools. Surveys, interviews, and research activity was developed to identify behavior and perceptions that would shape the strategy and planning for an OER awareness initiative and associated campaigns. As a result, we developed a business plan for an online “concierge service” that would connect teachers with online supplemental tools. We conceived Bring it to me.org as the organization. We named and positioned it as a certified resource for reliable and standardized online (supplemental) teaching tools that met California teaching standards. In addition to research, the OER strategy also encompassed a go-to-market strategy, brand and marketing campaign planning for the brand integration; website, events, social engagement, and ongoing digital marketing.
